Caleb Day Was Wonderful!

We just want to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who helped make Caleb Day possible. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up to honor the memory of our sweet Caleb. The outpouring of support from our community proved to us that we made the right decision to move to Little Elm.

Our friends poured through our home expressing their sorrow at our loss & comforting us as best they could. They took care of everything for us & we were able to somewhat relax and not worry about cooking or cleaning anything. Special thanks to my MOPS group from Crossridge Church for coordinating food, our wonderful neighbors for serving our family in love, and our church family from Grace Church USA for being there for us whenever we needed them.

Saturday evening, we were treated to a professional soccer game. At half-time, we were presented with a framed jersey in Caleb's memory that had been autographed by the entire team. It was a bittersweet event. We were overjoyed at the gesture, yet saddened that Caleb was not able to be with us to enjoy it in person.

I believe he was watching us from his perch atop a rainbow in Heaven.

Thank you for everything.
Angel, Richard & Caden

  1. What a wonderful community you live in, and how lovely of them to do so much in honor of your amazing son Caleb. Your family has touched the hearts of people not only in your community, but all over the world with your faith and love.

May you find time to repair the huge void left by Caleb's passing and know that his spirit lives on forever. I'm always here if you need a shoulder!

    Lots of Love,

    Misty

  2. It was a beautiful, bitter sweet day for sure. I was overwhelmed by the love and support as well. I was also impressed with the strength that Angela and Richard have, and their faith is contagious.

I felt your presence in the breeze Caleb. We did a pretty good job, huh? By the way, Gracie wants to know if there are fire ants in heaven.

  5. Angel,
We work with Mrs. Kitty in Mobile, Alabama. Caleb and your family have been in our prayers and will continue to be in our prayers.

Below is a message from a priest in Mobile that wanted me to pass this along:

"Early this morning, I walked over to the Secretariat Offices of the Holy Father and was able to hand Sister who handles all petitions to be placed on the Holy Father's altar for mass . . .so, I gave her the petition for Caleb and she said she would make sure it gon there today and all the time . . .
It's a joy for me to be able to do this. I can not even come close to imagining the grief of the mother and father.
The Dallas community of our Fathers is also aware of this".
    Father Joseph

    May the Lord comfort you.

  7. I hadn't heard of your journey until the other day, but I went back and read your whole blog last night. I cried, such a beautiful story of God's love. I am so happy that you felt His love and Grace the whole time. It is times like these that many people turn their backs (and Faith) when in actuallity, they need it the most. You guys are great parents and Caleb was able to live a very full life in his short years. Hope you feel the Lord's love in the days and weeks to come. Blessings to you.

  8. Dear Angela and Richard,
I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry for your loss of sweet Caleb and that I personally will never forget him. I feel bad that I didn´t reach out more but I also knew that you were going through a lot and get a lot of phone calls etc. We only met in passing and I wondered about Caleb often after he finished radiation. When I saw you guys that day in the clinic I didn´t know what had been going on. I saw Calebs picture, pop up on my FB the day after he went to heaven and knew it was him because once Richard showed me that very picture of Caleb at Moncrief. I know I can´t do anything for you but I want you to know above all that I will remember Caleb for who he was and not the illness. I remember him racing Dr. Murphy and kindly sharing cookies. I will not forget sweet Caleb. My heart is aching for you. I try to take comfort in that he is free from a body that brought him pain and with God now. My words are not good enough, I am sorry.

  9. So sorry to hear of the passing of your son, Caleb. I've been following his illness through a mutual friend, Joell McDonald. I also went to school with you and your brother, Drew at Galvez Elem...and my husband knows your parents through the GLVFD. Caleb is now in a better place...with the Lord our God. Prayers are with you and your family.

  12. Angel and Richard, I do not know you but just read about your precious son Caleb. I'm astounded by Caleb's courage as well as with the courage that both of you have had through this very difficult journey. The peace of God truly seems to have gotten you both through this trial. I pray in the name of Jesus that you continue to find peace. I also pray that Gods perfect purpose will be accomplished! As much as Caleb goes through my mind, and he will often I will lift you both in prayer. I love you both with the love of Jesus.

  13. I don't know you personally, just thru this blog. I am fairly new to the blog but feel as though my heart has been ripped out.....so it is impossible for me to understand what you are going through. May GOD hold you with loving arms until you are able to go on. I was sent a link from this website today and the song was like it was written for you. Hope you enjoy it........http://www.andiesisle.com/theremustbeareason.html God Bless and keep you.
